Shave It

In the spirit of the warm(ish) weather, I'd like to reminisce about my favorite summer treat (or year-round treat in California). Who would ever guess that ice cream combined with shaved ice would be delicious? Theoretically, the ice would make the ice cream watery and the ice cream would make the ice all milky. It sounds gross, really.

WRONG! It's wonderful. The name of this ice cream/shaved ice parlor is "Shave It". Shave It first opened in my town about two years ago and it was instantly a success. The interior was made to vaguely resemble and igloo, very clever, and they play really current and good music. Even their website plays music! It's a very cool place to be, as the daily line out the door suggests.

My regular order is an X-Factor, which the menu lists as "Frosted French Vanilla with Brazilian Coffee Ice Cream". So basically the way it works is they fill the bottom of a cup with your choice of ice cream, pack on a mountain of shaved ice, douse the ice in your flavor choice, add an extra scoop of ice cream on top, and cover it with a lid with a hole in the top so you can eat it without it dripping. One of the best parts is that you get to watch them make it! They have tons of flavors, so you're bound to find a combination that appeals to you.

I've posted the link to the website below. Check it out and be amazed!
