The 9-1-1

My friend and I were feeling extraordinarily summer-y, so we went down to Haymarket in Northampton to buy smoothies. Neither of us had been there before, but thought that the eclectic menu would provide smoothies worth the $4.50. We walked in and looked at the smoothie options.
The 9-1-1 stuck out to me. The flavors were strawberries, mango, and yogurt and cider. The spanking was the next on the list, containing raspberries, yogurt, cider, and bananas. I bought the 9-1-1 and my friend decided that the spanking would be a good choice and blend of flavors. We went to the counter and the nice, young man asked us if we knew what we wanted, I said, “Yes, I would like a 9-1-1 please!” and my friend said “I would like a spanking.” We burst into laughter. Not the average order, but the man happily obliged.
I wonder what the origin of some food names are? Was the one person who decided that these names would be a good idea because of the sexual affiliation, or was it a simple coincidence that the names had these affiliations. I would love to read a restaurant review of Haymarket cafe to see how they handled the wonderful, yet startling titles. I would have to admit that the flavors were wonderful, full, and fresh. I would give a four star review, but I wonder if the names of the food offerings would deter some people, or if they would simply look past it and find joy and amusement in the experience?
